This has helped dentists ease the treatments and also the patients by making them bearable. There are also many other things and equipments that are necessary in this industry. The Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) are also important. They not only protect the doctor or dentist from the blood and body fluids, but also from other hazardous materials.

Dentists or dental professionals coming in close contact with the patient are prone to be affected by various virus and bacteria that cause different diseases that affect the oral health and the respiratory tract. Some of these are Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Cytomegalovirus, types 1 and 2 of herpes simplex types, mycobacterium tuberculosis, HIV, streptococci, staphylococci and many more other types of viruses and bacteria. There are various ways in which they can get transmitted. A few among them are:
·         Direct contact with blood, oral fluids or any other contaminated material.
·        Indirect contact with contaminated material such as injections, equipments or other environmental things.

·         Contact with oral mucosa or coming in touch with airborne virus that comes out through sneezing, coughing or talking of an individual.
Thus, it is mandatory that each medical professional working in close contact with a patient should wear along a Personal Protective Equipment. It is the task and duty of the employer to provide proper PPE to such professionals. The PPE should be sent for laundry regularly and replaced if there is any defect.

One would have to select good quality PPE as they would act as protective equipments and would prevent the medical professionals from falling ill. Like all the dental lab equipments, these should also be selected with care. You cannot simply purchase any product without checking its quality and durability.

The products should be durable and of the best available quality. Do not concentrate much on the cost. Rather remember that these equipments will help you prevent a person from getting ill and in the worst case, save on one’s life too. This can be said because the viruses that can get transmitted also include dangerous ones such as the HIV. Thus, purchase equipments from a company that is a reputed one and guarantees trusted products that last longer.
